AFL Div 1; Na Fianna Continue Sparkling League Form

     Na Fianna: 4-15

    Skryne: 0-14

Skryne started brightly and had 4 points on the board from frees within the first 8 minutes. Na Fianna settled into the game and Shane Walsh got their first point in the 9th minute. This was quickly followed by a point from Ethan Devine after a burst from midfield split the Skryne defence. The game was level in the 13th minute after two points from Shane Walsh.
Na Fianna were dominating and increased their advantage over the next ten minutes through scores from Jack McNally, Shane Walsh from a free and Harrison Silke. The Na Fianna defence was playing it's part and restricted Skryne to just one point in this period of play.

Na Fianna scored the opening goal of the game in 25th minute after a cross in front of the goal was punched to the net by Harrison Silke. This was immediately followed by another goal this time from Shane Walsh giving Na Fianna an 8 point lead.

Things didn’t improve for Skyrne when they could not find a way to break through Na Fianna defence and they finished the half with only 1 additional point whereas Na Fianna finished the half with a further 3 points from Ethan Devine, Jack McNally (free) and Shane Walsh giving them a 2 –10 to 6 point lead at half time.

Skyrne started the second half with the first score from a free. Na Fianna followed with a point from Ethan Devine and a free from Shane Walsh. Skyrne battled to stay in the game but, found a resolute Na Fianna defence who restricted them to just two points from play.

Things did not improve when 10 minutes into the half they lost a player to a straight red. Skyrne kept trying and scored the next point from a free. However, they were thwarted by a fine save by Shane Geraghty in the Na Fianna goal when it looked odds on to score a goal.

Na Fianna were still in control and counter attacked the Skryne defence, again it was Shane Walsh who increased the Na Fianna lead with two further scores one from play and the other from a free.  Frustration got the better of Skryne and they lost another player to a straight red card. Skyrne scored the next point but lost two further players from injury 15th minutes into the half. The game was clearly over but Na Fianna went on to score a point by Ethan Devine, a goal by Conor Downey whilst Skyrne only managed 2 frees.

A goal from Owen McDonnell just before the full time whistle just added to the home teams pain.
