Na Fianna -v- St. Michael's - 1st Rd Senior Ladies

Na Fianna kicked off their championship campaign against St. Michael’s in Baconstown last Wednesday evening with a 4 point win.
Within thirty seconds from the throw in, Na Fianna were first to register on the score board and they set the tempo for the full sixty minutes. A goal for Na Fianna in the first half kept the distance between the two sides. The first half was a free flowing contest with Na Fianna having a five point cushion at half time.
St. Michael’s outscored the home side in the second half by one point. They rallied their troops in the hope of clawing back the lead but the home side’s tenacious tackling contained the opposition’s attack to hold the lead up to the final whistle.
This was an impressive performance from all Na Fianna players that took to the field that evening. They dominated possession for most of the game. Credit has to go to both teams for producing a skillful exhibition, considering the heavy rain that intermittently fell during the course of the game. The quality of game was aided by the superb condition of Baconstown pitch.
