    Draw Match for Na Fianna in 6 minute Injury Time!

    AHL Div.2- Rd 5:

    Na Fianna vs Navan O’Mahony’s

    Navan started with strongly but good defending prevented them from getting the first score of the game until they converted from a free in the 6th minute. Na Fianna had a number of opportunities but it wasn’t until the 13th minute that they got a point on a board courtesy of a free from Peter Slevin. The next score went to Navan from a free 2 minutes later which they quickly followed with their first point from play to give them a 2 point advantage.

    As Na Fianna attacked, Peter Slevin was fouled as he ran towards the O'Mahony's goal and duly pointed the resulting free to narrow the gap to 1 point. Na Fianna drew level when a shot from Jonathan McCloskey was blocked out for a 65. Peter Slevin stepped up and scored the 65 to level the game. In the 24th minute Oisín McCloskey intercepted a ball in defence and made an attacking run finishing off with a point. Navan O'Mahony's foul count was increasing and Peter Slevin took full advantage to put another free over the bar in the 25th minute. As the half drew to a close there was some further attempts by the Na Fianna attack including a fine attack by Tiarnan McCloskey which just went wide.

    The first goal of the game came in the 30th minute when O'Mahony's broke through the Na Fianna defence. O'Mahony's won the puck out and went on the attack however, Evan Mullally intercepted the sliotar and played it to Shane Burke who turned and scored a point.  Bringing the game level for half time at Navan 1 goal 3 points to Na Fianna 6 points.

    On the resumption of play Navan O'Mahony's again started brightly and scored the first point of the half. However, in the 9th minute Cormac Redmond made the most of space in the attack and scored the Na Fianna goal putting Na Fianna up my 2 points. Na Fianna increased this lead with a point from Oisín McCloskey and an Eoin Gorry free. 

     

    The Navan O'Mahony's defence prevented Na Fianna extending their advantage when they stopped another shot on their goal. As the game drew to a close Navan O'Mahony's increased the pressure and scored a free in the 29th minute. Navan O'Mahony were putting the Na Fianna defence under a lot of pressure and were finally rewarded in the 6th minute of time added on when they broke through to score their 2nd goal and bring the game level. This proved to be the final score and the game fin shed as a draw.
