U10 Football Girls go to Croke Park

The Na Fianna U10 girls’ team were selected, as one of two Meath representatives, to participate in the LGFA activity day in Croke Park on Monday 15th April 2019. In total, 62 teams representing 31 counties were present on the day.

The LGFA activity day is hosted annually in GAA HQ, and this year, U10 teams from around the county were invited to participate.

A total of 15 girls from the U10 playing panel were drawn to represent the club on the day. The team management organised a bus for the team as well as other panel members who wished to come along and support on the day. Following the games, the management had also arranged for a stadium and museum tour for the girls.

The Na Fianna team played a total of 5 games against clubs from Offaly, Dublin, Carlow, Armagh and Down. Playing conditions were far from ideal with a strong, biting wind making life difficult for the girls, however each of the players played their heart out and represented themselves, their families, Na Fianna club and Meath with pride, distinction and an abundance of skill and commitment.

Following the games, the players were brought on a tour of the stadium and got to witness what goes on behind the scenes in Croke Park, with a sneak peak in the players lounge, the dressing rooms and a corporate box.

Many thanks must go to our loyal parents and supporters who showed up on the day to cheer on the girls and to the management and team selectors who helped to organise the day.
