AFL Div 1 and BFL: Defeats for Na Fianna

AFL Div 1: Na Fianna 1-15 St Peters Dunboyne 6-14

Na Fianna were brushed aside by an outstanding Dunboyne outfit on Sunday afternoon in Dunboyne.

Na Fianna were the better team for the opening fifteen minutes holding a four point lead at one stage, but Dunboyne gradually came into the game.

Late goals in the half from Meath star Donal Lenihan had Dunboyne 2-08 to 0-8 ahead at half time and three further goals in the opening fifteen minutes of the second half killed the game as a contest.

Na Fianna goalkeeper Shane Geraghty was helpless for the Dunboyne goals and indeed made four outstanding point blank saves to deny their opponents even more goals.

These sides will meet again in group C of the SFC later in the year and on this showing, Na Fianna will have to improve enormously to match a dynamic Dunboyne side.
